My name is Anne I am a Dutch national who has lived in the UK since 2001 .
I am passionate about safe and comfortable carrying.
I am a carrying consultant in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland . A carrying consultant is someone who teaches others how to safely and comfortably use slings and carriers. I am fully trained to teach parents how to use any type of soft carrier.
I started using slings shortly after the birth of my oldest child Ben (2004). We used a stretchy wrap mainly to get about on public transport or for walks in the forest. In early 2005 I started volunteering at my local breastfeeding group and showing people how to use my sling.
When my second child Ruben (2006) was born I started looking for a different sling as he wanted to be carried a lot more. I searched online and soon a new world was opened for me. I joined online forums and found a wonderful community.
In 2008 my work with slings and carriers moved from a voluntary to a professional platform as I became the owner of an online Sling shop and parenting forum. I still run the forum today and you can find it at www.nmcommunity.uk. Also in 2008 I completed the first part of my carrying consultant training with Trageschule Dresden and ran a sling meet.
In 2009 I completed the 2nd and 3rd courses with Trageschule Dresden as I worked towards becoming a trainer with Trageschule UK I sold the shop.
In 2010 I give birth to my 3rd child Eleanor
In 2011 I worked as a trainer and director for Trageschule UK
In 2012 I founded Born to Carry to create a network of trainers across the UK. I teach peer support courses as well as working with trainers who wish to join the network as a coach.
In 2017 I gave birth to my 4th child Martha.
